Q: Is this project needed in my community?
A: Complete a feasibility survey to make an Assessment
Q: Who will the project benefit the most?
A: Individuals as well as the local community (e.g. young girls, adult women and the community as a whole)
Q: How can I help DwD (Daughters without Dads)?
A: Become a board member, volunteer, mentor or financial sponsor
Q: How will I know which roles fit my skills, needs, and schedule and commitment level?
A: Attend Meet & Greets, conference calls, check on the website and speak with the president about the roles & responsibilities of each active participant.
Q: Is there any cost to join?
A: Yes, as a board member there is a non-refundable $20 membership application fee and upon approval of membership yearly dues of $60 (Note all Mentor’s must be DwD members)
Q: What are the benefits of membership?
A: Members get in “free” to all events, get tax credits, provide financial support for the organization as a whole for the purchasing of supplies, venue fees, equipment & mentor software and participate in the direction of the organization by attending board meetings.
Q: What are the benefits of volunteerism?
A: Volunteers pay no fees upfront but are asked to make a donation at DwD events (e.g. fundraisers, annual retreat, annual picnics and formal dinners)
Q: How much time do I have to commit weekly, monthly or yearly?
A: Board Members meet 4 times per year (Quarterly), Committee Members meet 4 hrs per month (The 1st and 3rd Sunday), and Mentors must be willing to commit 2 hrs per week for 52 weeks, attend orientation and monthly staff training. Some meetings will be at local venues, conference calls and/or libraries. (NOTE: Two weeks advance notice will be given for emergency meetings vial email or phone. Absences will be granted with written permission. Board Members failures to notify President with reason for absence can result in member termination)
Q: How can I help if I live in another state?
A: Spread the word to your employers who may be seeking charitable causes to donate to, donate funds online, pray for the organization and refer participants and volunteers relocating to the North Carolina area or help start a chapter in your area.
Q: What is the main goal DwD is focusing on right now?
A: Research, Marketing, Grant Writing and mentoring program
